Danni Dee

Hello!

Aug 20: Yah! I am adopted to the most amazing family! I have two kitty siblings and two two-legged siblings to play with! My Mommy is big into animals and is a groomer too so I know I am always going to be looking pretty! I may need a name change though because my Daddy's name is Dan! Thank-you so much to my Foster Daddy who fostered me and taught me so much!

I'm Danni Dee - otherwise known as Diezel Denzel's better half!
Diezel and I were rescued from a dump in a rural community. I was thrown out in the dump about a month ago (because I was in heat) and Diezel befriended me! If you read his story you will see that he had many porcupine quills in his face. Throughout this time I stayed at his side, under a shack, teaching him that not all people are bad. I taught him to take treats from a really nice woman and I was sort of his caretaker!

About two weeks ago, while still living at the dump, I also got into quills but nearly as much as Diezel. My rescuer was able to pull about 30 out for me the first day she met me but I still had some in my nose and muzzle. My vet pulled these out for me while I was asleep and I feel much better now!

I am told that I am a VERY pretty girl - in looks and personality! My vet says that I'm a super laid back girl. I'm not high energy at all - really enjoy laying around. But of course I like my walks.

I just got spayed so after my hormones calm down a bit I'm going to get to go to the offleash dog park and meet lots of friends!

I am looking for the perfect forever family. If you think I would be a good addition to your family please contact Rescue for Life. I'd love to meet you!

P.S. I love Diezel Denzel and if you happen to be looking for two dogs then we would be more than happy to get adopted together! However, it is not a requirement that we get adopted together - I know I will meet lots of dogs and people that will also love me.

Age: 12-18 months old
Sex: Female (spayed)

June 19: All my pups are adopted but I'm still here! No fair! I'm a little bigger than my pups but I'm only 50 pounds and I'm absolutely enjoying life now! I love talking to you and I love my kennel. I still don't like going outside because I am so scared I won't be let back in. I am now spayed and everyone says I am looking so much better now. I would like to find my perfect forever family that will love me for forever. I am a very submissve girl and my Foster Daddy is working on my socialization skills - I love the resident dog in the house and enjoy playing with him!

I am the very proud Mommy to the puppies described above.  My job was not easy and I was disappointed that one of my puppies did not make it out of the dump alive.  But I have been told that I am really an amazing Mommy and that I am very gentle.  I shared all my food with my pups and really protected them.  I am being fostered with Tina Thumbalina and I also have skin infections and some wounds.  I am in heat right now and will be getting spayed shortly.  I am 50 pounds and very gentle.  I love being petted and am good with cats, children, and dogs.

Do we have a story to tell you! We were rescued this past weekend!  Our Mommy and us puppies were thrown out in a dump and we were very very scared.  There were four of us puppies and our Mommy tried as best she could to protect us all but one of us did not make it.  However, the three of us and our Mommy are now in total shock over the great comforts of having people really love us.  We want to thank all the people that helped change our lives - our foster homes, our vets, and the local stores that help supply our food.

We were thrown out in the dump a few weeks ago and were really struggling to survive.  Two weeks ago this kind lady noticed us and started bringing us food and water.  However, we really didn't like her and didn't trust her.  But then she started bring us raw beef chunks!  Well of course, we fell in love with her and we would follow her all around the dump.  At first, we would not let her pet us because we thought she would want to hit us for following her.  But she kept coming out with more and more beef and finally we relented and decided she might be nice.

On the day of our rescue three people came out with a trap to trap us but we decided we were going to brave being picked up and put in a car!  All three of us puppies and our Mommy were lifted into the backseat of a car and we proceeded to pass out and sleep on the most amazing car ride we have experience thus far.

We are now enjoying our foster homes and could not ask for anything more.  We've had to get used to eating dry kibble though - we were sort of enjoying our raw meat diet!  We are being treated for skin infections and in 1-2 weeks once we build up our immune systems and our infections clear up we are going in to get spayed.  Our Mommy was so so happy to be rescued because she is in heat right now and we know she did not want to have more puppies and have them suffer like us.  We also are just about to go into heat since we are about 8-10 months old so we were so happy to get out of the dump.

Age: 18 months old
Sex: Female (spayed)
Weight: 51 pounds
Breed: German Shep cross

Georgia Molly Melba

I'm adopted! Yay! I have an amazing home with two Mommies, a kitty brother, a kitty sister...and...LEXI! Lexi and I are about the same size and we LOVE playing with each other...it was love at first sight! And the absolute best thing about my forever home is that I get to go on doggy playdates with Reggie (Tina Thumbelina)! My Mommies are going to take me to obdience classes so that I can learn some manners like my sister Lexi! How lucky am I?

I am a Yellow Lab cross and I weigh about 27 lbs.  And guess what?  I am pretty much full grown!  I should be about 35 pounds when I am an adult.  I walk pretty well on the leash and I am in a foster home with my sister Eddie Garfunkel.  I am house-trained and kennel-trained and am being treated for skin infections and a couple bite wounds.  I have a bit of anxiety when I am left alone but my foster Mommy is working on this and my kennel really helps with this.  I am the most submissive of the puppies but I can stand my ground!  I love people and am good with cats, dogs, and children.

My forever family is about as perfect as it can get! I have the best Mommy and Daddy, and a doggy sister (Molly) and a really big doggy brother (Simon)! Simon was a bit slow to warm up to me because he is a rescue also. But after I gave him a few kisses and persisted with being friends with him, he finally gave in! My Mommy and Daddy are friends with Georgia's parents so I am going to get to go on playdates with my sister! I am going to have an active lifestyle which I'm really looking forward to!

I am a German Shep cross and the smallest of the girls but really solid!  I am 29 pounds and should be about 35 pounds when full grown!  I got into a dog fight at the dump because a big male dog was picking on me (I think that is how my sister died).  I have a big abscess under my eye that is being treated with antibiotics and it is already looking much better.  I am also being treated for my skin infections.  I am house-trained and kennel-trained.  I am not to sure how to play yet but the resident dog and my Foster Daddy are teaching me all these new things.  I am lower energy but am also just spending all my time and energy trying to heal.  I love people and am good with cats, dogs, and children.

I am the first of Mimi's girls to get adopted! My new forever home is awesome and I'm going to enjoy the company of my new Mommy, Daddy, my kitty sister, and my three two-legged brothers - talk about a big family! I'm going to be showered with attention and love and will also get to go to obdience classes. My family is very active so I will also gets lots of excercise! Thanks to everyone for giving me this awesome second chance at life!

I am a German Shep cross and I am being fostered with my sister Molly.  I am the biggest of my litter at only 32 lbs and I've been told that I'm a little overweight - that's not my fault though! I was being fed so much yummy food at the dump!  I should be about 40 lbs when full grown, if that.  I am more lumbering and lower energy than my sister Molly but I'm also just really run down and am taking it easy right now.  I am house-trained, kennel-trained, and walk pretty good on the leash.  I am also being treated for pretty bad skin infections. I love being petted and cuddled and am good with cats, dogs, and children.

Elle-Louise

Hi!

My new family is in beautiful Vancouver, BC! I never have to spend another cold winter outdoors! I have a very special family with four two-legged siblings, a four-legged doggy brother, and my new Mommy! Thanks so much for much to everyone that gave me my second chance! I LOVED my drive out to BC with my foster sister Brady...I was told I was perfect!

I'm 8 weeks old and I am so lucky and also very smart! I chased down the right car and I am now getting to start a new life.

I was very thin and a little bit mangy when brought in but I am gaining lots of weight now with my yummy food. I was vet-checked and have been dewormed so my belly is not so bloated and upset anymore.

I love other dogs and I love cats too! Guess what...I'm pretty much house-trained too! I told you I am smart! I am also working on my crate-training and learning not to bark in the house. I know the command "sit" and I sit very pretty for a treat.

I am a German Shep cross and I will lover puppy and obdience school because I am so so smart. I will be about 60 pounds when full grown.

I am looking for my special forever home! If you think we would be a great match please give us a call at (780) 702-6151 or contact us at info@rescue4life.org

My adoption fee will include my spay (at 6 months), vaccinations, vet-check, and deworming.

Age: 8 weeks olds
Sex: Female (to be neutered at 6 months)
Weight: 10 pounds (will be about 60 when full grown)
Breed: German Shep cross

Marco Mario

Hi Everyone!

It's Marco Mario here!  Like my buddy Hobo I am from the Parkland Pound and I also had quills when I first came in. I have a long story to tell but I'm going to just give you a few details here.  You will have to call Rescue for Life and come visit me to learn my whole story!

I am a medium size dog at about 65 lbs and I have had a rough life and managed to survive to middle age with the help of my friend Hobo, Rescue for Life, and some other kind folks.  I have some battle scars but I hope that does not scare you away from me - I have just been in some scuffles that I did not deserve.

I am more submissive in nature and I love being cuddled.  I am now neutered and am working on my training.

I am looking for my forever family - I would love to join you for the upcoming holidays since I have never experienced this yet.  My perfect family would give me lots of walks, provide a kennel for me, have a 6ft fenced area, take me to an obedience class, give me lots of snuggles, and maybe have a doggy friend I could be friends with.

If you are interested in adopting me please contact Rescue for Life at (780) 702-6151 or info@rescue4life.org

Hello Everyone!

Update (May 20, 2009): I have a problem with my spine that involves a narrowing of a portion of it that makes me walk funny. I am special needs but I am not in any pain. Instead of long walks, I like little ones! I let you know what my limitations are! I need to make sure I don't eat too much since the less weight on me the better since it is easier for me! I would rather cuddle with you on the sofa! Please give us a call to talk more about me! I am now spayed and had my rear dewclaws removed!

Update (May 9, 2009): As I have grown up it has become more and more obvious that I am a very special needs girl. I have been seen by several vets and specialists. I have problems with my backlegs - they are very straight and I am weak in my back end. My x-rays appear to be normal of my legs but I will be going in for an x-ray of my spine. My weakness may have been caused by being hit on the back (I did appear fearful of people when I first came in - especailly when eating) or I may have spinal bifida. A specialist will be looking at me lat this week. I don't appear to be in any pain - I just walk very funny. I have a lot of problems going up and down stairs and I would rather cuddle than go for a long walk. I like playing with other dogs (more romping, than chasing) and I like the cat in my foster home.

You're not going to believe this....but I was thrown out in a parking lot and a kind man picked me up and brought me into a pet store where I was then placed with Rescue for Life. Now I can look forward to finding a really good home that will always love me.

When I first came in I was covered in insulation and debris. But I got a bath and was groomed and now l look very pretty! I like playing but I also like sleeping!

I am a Great Pyr cross with some Husky and Collie in me - I have double rear dew claws. I am going to be a big fluffy girl (about 70 pounds) when I am full grown. I want to be in an indoor/outdoor family member and I will need you to brush me everyday so that my fur does not get matted!

If you are interested in adopting me please contact Rescue for Life:

Hobo Henry

Hi Everyone!

It's Hobo Henry here!  I was sitting at the Parkland Pound and noone claimed me so the kind folks at Rescue for Life are giving me my second chance. Some kind folks that have fed me for years at a summer village (I would run 20km everyday to them to get food) called the Parkland Pound after I was found with hundreds of quills in my face. I have a long story to tell but I'm going to just give you a few details here.  You will have to call Rescue for Life and come visit me to learn my whole story!

As you can see, I am a tripod.  I lost my leg many years ago and I have managed to survive running many kilometers (20km-30km) a day just looking for food.  Without the help of Rescue for Life and some other kind folks I probably would not be here today.  In addition, over the past few years I have taken care of Marco but we are not looking for a home together.

I am medium-large size dog and I am middle-aged.  I have to tell you that having three legs does not slow me down at all.  I LOVE going for walks and I am getting used to walking on the leash.

I am neutered, up-to-date on my vaccinations, and my training has been started.  If my forever home has another dog, I would prefer my buddy to be a female.

I am really really hoping that for the first time in my life I could spend the holidays with my new family.  I've never had a family to dote on me and I know I'd really enjoy that.  In return, you will get lots of snuggle time with me.  My perfect family would give me lots of walks, provide a kennel for me, have a 6ft fenced area, take me to an obedience class, give me lots of snuggles, and maybe have a doggy friend I could be friends with.

Oct 16: We're adopted and together! We are so so happy and settling in nicely. Our family includes our Mommy, Daddy, our two-legged sister, and these two very furry oragne things called CATZ! I personally am so happy that Princess Miah is still with me because I still have to teach her lots of things. But now I have the help of this whole big family. I LOVE playing with my two-legged sister - I've never had someone be so gentle and kind with me. I also got an operation done on me for something called a hernia - Rescue for Life wanted to make sure I was all healthy for my new family. I am recovering really good and can't stop playing with Princess Miah. I can't wait for Christmas so that I can spend tons ot time with my family and in the new year I am going to go to obdience classes at Perfect Place Kennels.

Sept 1: It's us...Prince and Princess.  Do you recognize us?  A few months ago Rescue for Life sent out an email on us looking for foster/adoption homes and noone responded at the time.  It became criticial that we be rescued because we got into porcupines and had faces full of quills!  On  the weekend of of August 29-30 seven volunteers organized a rescue mission to bring us in.

It was one of the hardest rescues Rescue for Life completed because Princess was really shy due to people being mean to her.  It took about 10 hours over two days but we brought in both Princess and Prince.  They were both brought to the vets and in the past week have recovered from quills and also being spayed/neutered.

Prince: I am considered an "old" dog from where I come but I am only about 4 years old!  I was brought up by a child and then abandoned.  My name is Prince and I know it very well.  I am about 43 pounds (and a little overweight).  I am a Collie Lab cross and I just LOVE being petted and hugged.  Even with all the quills in my face, I was burying my face in my rescuers hands because I just wanted to be petted.  I am a mellow guy and in my new home I would like to be a best friend to you and your family.  I have lots of love to give and lots of life to live.

Princess is my best friend - I raised her from when she was just a baby little puppy that was abandoned.  I would love to be adopted with her, but it is not required - I just want to make sure she gets as good a home as I do!

August 3: I'm still up for adoption and noone seems interested in me. I'm a little sad because I am staying at a kennels and I don't have a real family yet. I see all these dogs coming and going from the kennels and they are so happy to see their family after vacation. I want my own family! So if you are interested in having me join your family please give Rescue for Life a call.

May 29: I'm starting to wean my pups and I am starting to get some training at Perfect Place Kennels that will help me feel more secure.

I know many of you have been anxiously awaiting an update from me!  Sorry for the delay but I have been very busy trying to learn how to do the "Mommy" thing.

Just to remind you  - I am the Mommy dog that was rescued from the dump about three weeks ago.  I was heavily pregnant and made everyone wait for two long weeks before giving birth - I had to make sure that I would be taken good care of and I that I would help through the whole process.

I gave birth to 6 healthy babies - 5 boys, 1 girl.  My Foster Mommy and my Guardian Angel sat with me through the whole delivery (6 hours starting at 11 pm).  I don't know what I would have done without them as I was very very scared and confused about the whole thing.  I was so scared and nervous that as all my puppies were being born, I tried to kill them.  I would give them one lick but as soon as they moved, I got very scared and started growling and biting them.  So my Mommies removed each pup as they were born and put them in a box.

My first nursing, and several more after that, were not the easiest.  I had to wear a muzzle and be placed on my side in the whelping pool.  My foster Mommy would then lift each puppy out of the box and latch them on to me.  For the first few days I was very confused and upset about the whole nursing thing - I still did not like my puppies and I would growl and bite at them if they came near me.  Over the past couple days, I have started to accept them more and more and I don't need to wear my muzzle any more!  Last night, I also licked them while they were nursing - this was a really big thing for me!  My puppies are fat and healthy now thanks to my Foster Mom and my milk!  Every time my puppies cry, I know it is time to feed them.  So when my Foster Mommy comes to get them out of the kennel - I wait patiently and watch her put them into the box.  Then we walk together down to the whelping room and I get into my swimming pool (the whelping box) and lay down on my side and wait for my Foster Mommy to put all the puppies on me to nurse.  Then I take a nap for 1/2 an hour while they are nursing.  They are really funny little guys because when they are all done nursing they just fall asleep.

Over the past week my Foster Mommy has worked tirelessly with me so that I would learn to accept and trust my puppies.  And  guess what?!  I am finally starting to like them just a bit.  I now "help" with cleaning the puppies - if my Foster Mommy holds each puppy in her hands, I will lick and clean each puppy until they pee and poop.  However, sometimes I get tired of this and will let my Foster Mommy take care of these duties while I go relax on the sofa.

Even though I did not really like my puppies initially, I always had a little bit of a maternal instinct.  My puppies are kept in a big kennel in my house and I sit on the sofa and watch over the kennel (sometimes).  When my puppies start crying I will notify my Foster Mommy that something is wrong by barking and whining - and if she doesn't come right away I will start dragging the kennel around the room.  I also will sit on the sofa and only let certain people near my kennel of puppies as I do feel they need some protecting from me.

I know I do the Mothering thing in a very different way but I was way too young to have puppies and was just very very confused and upset.

Just in case you are interested, I am also doing very well myself!  I got to have a bath just days before giving birth and I feel so much better now.  I am shiny black and love being brushed.  I am very thin though but I get as much food as I want.  I had severe separation anxiety when I first came in but I am now starting to realize that there are really kind people in this world.  I don't whine any more and I just love cuddling on the sofa.  I HATE the outdoors and I only spend about 5 minutes outside each day as all I want to do is use the washroom and then come back inside.  I know in time, when I can trust some more, that I will come to love the outdoors again and going for walks (but I am just not ready yet for that).  I also appear to have some sort of old back injury (maybe a burn) as one side of my rump is very flat with an odd fur pattern.  I am a very very quiet girl (with almost zero exercise requirements) but I require lots of affection and cuddles.

When my puppies are 8-12 weeks they will be ready to go to their forever families.  My Foster Mommy, Rescue for Life, and myself will be carefully screening homes to look for perfect matches for my puppies.  I think my puppies are going to be large breed dogs (maybe very large....hard to tell at this age...but they have grown so much in 1 week and have big paws).  We are currently accepting applications, but you won't be able to choose a puppy until they are a little older and are showing more of their personalities.  I will not be accepting outdoor only applications and I will want to see that you are interested in going to obdience classes so that my puppies (and potential adoptive families) are well-educated.

Sept 29: Ok ok....I have been so busy going for RUNS that I have not had time to tell you that I am adopted! I had to stay at the Crestwood Vet Clinic because I was a very bad boy and kept ripping my cone off...so I was under constant supervision. While staying at the clinic I met my new Daddy! My Daddy is friends with one of the vets at Crestwood Vet Clinic and fell in love with me immediately! I am going to have a great life and you will have to keep checking back for more updated pics. By the way...I am still waiting to squeak a toy...really hard to wait but I am told it is best while my jaw heals.

Sept 16: Hi everyone...I had a bit rough night last night so I did not have time to update you about my big surgery.

Yesterday was a very big day for me. My vets tried very very hard to save my leg for me but it was too late. After having numerous x-rays on my leg it was found that my elbow was not broken at all but severly dislocated and rotated. Although you make think this is easier to fix than a break, it is sometimes not. I was put to sleep and they opened up my elbow. They then tried in vain to pull my leg back into place but all my muscles had atropied preventing my elbow from going back in place - I also had so much scar tissue. In the end, my leg was amputated and I am now of the tripod type! I am sort of happy about this because now I don't have to drag my bad leg around with me, I will never have arthritis in this joint (I already had arthritis setting in), and I will never be at risk for having my elbow pop out of joint.

While I was asleep I also had x-rays of my jaw taken to look at my previous injuries. To the dismay of my vets it was found that I had multiple fractures to my lower jaw and I also had a serious bone infection. My vets fixed my mouth up at the same time and although it is very fragile, everyone is hopeful that it is going to heal over the next couple of months. For the next 4 weeks I am only allowed to have soft food (I am really excited about this!) but I am not allowed to play with any toys or chew anything at all (I am not that excited about this at all!). I just found out what squeaky toys are and I am pretty devastated that I will have to wait 4 weeks to get to squeak one again myself. I also have to stay on my antibiotics for at least 4 weeks.

Although, I had a rough night last night, to the amazement of the Crestwood Vet Clinic I woke up ready to start the rest of my life! I have been out several times today at the clinic for walks and even a run and I am eating all my soft food. I am smiling ear to ear and I am in love with all these nice people. I have been told though that I am a bit of a bad boy because I keep taking my big cone off with my only front leg. I also keep ripping my IV out so now I am on just oral antibiotics.

I think my gaurdian angel was more upset over my surgeries than I was - so I made sure to show how happy I was and how good I was doing. I gave her lots and lots of kisses and I made her take me for a long walk so that I could show off my new three-legged run! I think she was cringing at me but I just wanted to run!

I am going to post some pictures tomorow...so please stay tuned.

Sept 12: I have had a horrible start to life but with the help of my vets and also Rescue for Life I am getting this amazing chance of finding out what it is like to be truly loved.

I am about a one year old male and I think I am a Lab Collie mix. Through a long chain of events I was surrendered and am now being given a chance at the good life. It is believed that I may be the brother to Ratatoullie Trudy (also a Rescue for Life dog) - and I want to have a life like hers too!

About two months ago - I received vet treatment for a broken jaw after suffering an injury. I healed from this slowly and just as I thought I was getting over this I got hit by a car and now my right elbow is broken (but my vets will fix this for me - they are still trying to decide whether they can save my leg or if it will get amputated). I was hit by a car by no faut of my own - I was just on the hunt for my next meal and I was so hungry that I just did not see the cars. Sometimes I was so hungry that I would eat insects off the road and not see cars coming. As you can imagine, I am quite underweight right now but with some yummy food, I will be well on my way.

I have the sweetest personality and beautiful brown eyes. I am quiet and just want you to pet and hug me. Of course when I am feeling better I will want to go for walks - perhaps shorter walks if my leg can not be fixed.

I am looking for my perfect forever home (although I will not be ready to go until after my surgery post-op care) - I know there is one out there for me. If you think that we will be a match please contact Rescue for Life at:

Denver Dave Dabber

Hello Everyone!

Sept 22: I am adopted! I get to live my life out with my Mommy, Daddy, and my big brother - Dexter. I LOVE playing with Dexter and I think I sort of tired him out. He likes to pretend he is really bossy but that is totally ok with me - I am just totally happy to be running around and having people give me hugs too.

Aug 30: I got rescued this weekend (Aug 30) and I am making sure everyone knows how happy I am!

I may be the smallest dog in with Rescue for Life right now, but I am loaded with BIG personality!

When I first came in I was covered in pink ink which is where I got part of my name from! I was also covered in burs and my tail is such a mess that I am going to get it shaved this week when I go in for my neuter.

Just to let you know, I LOVE playing with dogs but I am still learning that not all dogs want to play with me. I am learning basic manners also since I knew nothing at all when I first came in.

I am not sure what breed I am but I am told that it looks like I may be a Collie Papillon cross - I am about thirty pounds light!

If you are interested in adopting me please contact Rescue for Life:

Tyrone Dougie Doolittle

Sept 12: Ok ok...my Foster family fell in love with me and decided that we just could not part ways - but I'm totally happy with this! I love my big sister, Tessa, although I don't think she is in love with me yet but I am going to keep trying. And I love my big brother - I am sure he loves me too because he plays with me lots! Stay tuned for some updated pics.

Aug 30: It's Dougie Doolittle here! I was rescued from a dump this weekend and I made sure that my rescuers were not going to miss seeing me at the dump!  I was waiting right at the entrance and I pretty much clobbered them as soon as they got out of their cars begging them to take me with them! I am a male Great Pyr Lab Cross and about 3.5 months old.  I was really dirty when I came in and had some pretty bad burs on me that my Mommy cut off - I also got a bath so I look really handsome now!  I'm a little underweight right now but with the yummy food I am getting now I am going to put on weight in no time.

As you can probably tell, I am a really really friendly guy!  I love getting pets and hugs, and I love following my Foster Mommy around our house.  My Foster family includes my Mommy, Daddy, and two resident dogs!  I love playing with the dogs at my house as you can see in my pics.

My Mommy thinks I am really really smart because I have not had one accident in the house!  I am also working on my kennel-training and my leash-training which is going really really well!

I am on the hunt for my perfect forever family!  I want a family who is looking for a large breed puppy - I could be about 70-80 lbs when full grown!  I will also want a secure fenced area with 6' tall fencing and I don't want to be an outdoor only dog!

If you are interested in having Dougie Doolittle join your family please contact Rescue for Life at (780) 702-6151 (Edmonton and surrounding areas); (403) 922-9966 (Calgary and surrounding areas); or by email at info@rescue4life.org.

Digby

Hi!

August 24: I'm adopted! I was starting to get a little worried...starting to develop a complex...I didn't think anyone wanted me. But I have found my forever family and it's the best! I have a great Mommy and Daddy that are going to spoil me rotten! I am going to lead an active life that will include lots of walks, going to the offleash dogpark, and fun stuff like obdience training! If I'm really luck I might get to go to the fire station since my Daddy is a firefighter!

P.S.....I want to tell you someting....my Mommy (Jennie Gem) is staying at the same foster home as me...and she finally likes me! We play and play and play all day long! It took a long time but she loves dogs now so I hope a great family comes along and makes my Mommy as happy as I will be!

August 3: I am the last of Jennie Gem's puppies! I don't get it....I am the most relazed of all the puppies and I look like a black lab and I'm still not adopted! I want my own family! I would like my family to include another dog so I can have a doggy friend to play with!

I am outgoing and relaxed. I like attention but I am not overly demanding! I love playing with my siblings!

There are 6 of us (five boys and one girl). Our Mommy is Jennie Gem. She was resuced from a dump and gave birth to us 2 weeks after coming in. She was a little young to know how to be a really good Mommy but she has tried very hard. Our Foster Mommy has been a great Mommy to us and we are now fat and healthy. We love to play and run around.

We each have out own personality - some of us are more dominant, some of us are more submissive and quiet. We want to make sure we get the right family for each of us!

We will be about 50-60 pounds when full grown!

Our Adoption Fee will include first vaccinations, a vet check, and our spay or neuter.

If you are interested in adopting one of us babies please contact Rescue for Life at (780) 702-6151 or info@rescue4life.org

Blackie Boo

Hello!

My name is Blackie Boo but I am not very scary at all!  I got my name since I am all black and I was rescued from a dump around Halloween.

I want to tell you a little about my story...my rescuer first noticed me in the dump when I was just 4 months old but I was really shy and elusive, and I was sick and malnourished (all my fur was dry and brown because I had no nutrition, and I was very thin).  I didn't show my face very often but I would go eat some of the doggy food that was being dumped.  I finally decided that I was going to be a brave boy and introduce myself to this kind woman!  It was the best decision I could have ever made!

I am about 10 months old now and I neutered and up-to-date on all vet care.  I now have the shiniest black coat and I enjoy the great comforts of an indoor only home!  I LOVE people and I would love to be around you all day long to get petted!  I am now super-outgoing too and I just love attention!  Although normally we kitties love to be in a home with other cats, I would much prefer a home as the only cat to be doted on (or if there was a very quiet cat in the house that would be ok).  I had a really hard life at the dump and I was beat up a lot so I am now a bit defensive with the other resident kitties in my foster home (however, I do tolerate the quieter kitties of the home).  I'd also like to mention that I fully litter-box trained and I love using my scratching post.

If you are looking for the most loving companion and you are able to provide a forever home to Blackie Boo please contact Rescue for Life at (780) 702-6151 or info@rescue4life.org

Hi!

June 23: I am adopted!!! I am so excited to start my new life! My new family includes my Mommy, my Daddy, and my big brother Riley! I am really excited because my extended family has lots of dogs in it so I will get to learn lots. I have heard that I will get to learn lots of new stuff with my parents at obdience classes! Stay tunes for updated pics! Gotta run....

I have lots in common with pup 4 - I am outgoing and relaxed. I like attention but I am not overly demanding! I love playing with my siblings!

Hi!

June 19: I'm adopted and I am going to grow up with my sister, Maple! Our new family includes our Mommy and Daddy! I think they are more excited than we are! I immediately went to my Mommy and loved snuggling in her lap while they visited us! We are going to get lots of walks and one day go to obedience and maybe agility! Stay tuned for updated pics!

I am called the Little Old Man pup because I have a white chin and whiskers. I am very affectionate and I love to play with the others.

Hi!

June 19: I'm adopted and I am going to grow up with my brother, London! I was deemed "anti-social", however when my Daddy walked in and met us all I was like glue to him! I love my Mommy too but I LOVE my Daddy and would not leave his side! Our new family includes our Mommy and Daddy! I think they are more excited than we are! We are going to get lots of walks and one day go to obedience and maybe agility! Stay tuned for updated pics!

I'm the little girl - but I'm not so little! I am more dominant in nature and I put all my brothers in their places! I am corrected when I ask so dominant using Alpha Training Techniques. I am also very independent in nature and will spend a lot exploring my surrroundings by myself! I also love being cuddled but will need a more experienced doggy person!

Hi!

Aug 14: Hey, check out my new pics! My Mommy and Daddy sent pics of Bella (my big sister also adopted from Rescue for Life) and me! I've been having so much fun and I'm growing so quickly! I've been told I'm super handsome!

June 14: I'm first to get adopted! My brothers and sister are so excited for me! I am so excited because I get to live with Diegos Dancer - she will be my big sister and she is lots of fun! Stay tuned for updated pics!

I am more timid in nature and would like a quieter home who will have the time to help me build my confidence! I am already building confidence and am just more submissive in nature! I love attention and I love playing but I get bullied sometimes!

Bella Diegos Dancer (Dee Dee)

Hello Everyone!

Aug 14: Check out my new pics! I wanted to have a name that matched my little name so I decided Bella would match Beau! I love being a big sister to my little brother - he is so much fun!

June 11: I'm adopted! I knew I wouldn't have to wait too long! I'm a real lovebug and I'm so excited to start my new life with my new family! My family includes my Mommy, Daddy, my half-sister (the two-legged version), Gizmo....and the best thing is I have a new brother that I will get to live my life out with (Pup 3 from Jennie Gem's litter)! I am looking forward to lots of walks, ball-fethcing, some obience, and maybe some agility! Gotta run....!

May 29: My skin is healed and my fur has all grown back in! I am working on my obdience and am on the hunt for my forever home!

If you have a soft spot for softies you will fall in love with me! I was rescued from a dump just yesterday and I have some burns/skin issues on my back and body. In a few weeks I will be feeling much better though.

I am about a 8-10 months old Rotti/lab cross that LOVES people, and I am good with dogs and cats. I need to gain a bit more weight and I will probably grow just a little taller. I am quite submissive in nature around other dogs and don't want to cause a fight with anyone. In fact I don't even notice the other dogs - I only notice my Mommy and I keep wanting to "dance" with her. She told me that I am not allowed to "dance" all the time and she is working with me on this. I also love to play fetch!

I am already crate-trained (I feel very secure in my kennel) and I am house-trained - all in one day! I have also learned to walk on the leash and am very very responsive. I do not like being left outside at all and get very upset about this. I have had a very hard life thus far and I just want to stay with my family who protects me.

I am spayed and up-to-date on my vet care!

If you think I would make a good additional family member to your family please contact Rescue for Life at (780) 702-6151 or info@rescue4life.org.

Donations for my skin issues can be made directly to Parkland Vet Clinic (under Rescue for Life) at (780) 962-6300.

Sadie Evie

My name is Sadie Evie....named because today is Christmas Eve.  As you can see from the pictures I am about knee high and about 28 lbs. I LOVE people, dogs, and cats.  I am told I am a Chiuaua Beagle mix!

I was very neglected and my ears are quite sore now.  It took a long long time (a year +) for my ears to get like this. That is why I am holding my head funny in the pictures.  They were very sore inside but I let my foster Mom clean them daily because I know that this will help them get better. I am feeling much better already and am starting to play again! I was very very good and tried to sit as still as I could. When they are all healed I will have big floppy ears...I am told that I am a Beagle cross!

I am called the "sweetheart" of the house and I am looking for my retirement home. I have some cataracts in my eyes but I can see just fine. My vet (Parkland Vet) says this is very normal for my age. Besides this I have been given a clean bill of health! I am ready for my new life and am looking for a family to share this with.

Nero (Magnus Mighty (Spotty B))

Hi!

I'm adopted! I am so excited! I get to live my live out with my two doggy brothers, my bird friends, and the best Mommy and Daddy! Anyway, I've gotta to run....lots to do! Chow!

Am I cutie or what! I was picked up from a dump and I was absolutely starving. This kind woman dumped some food for me and I started eating so fast that I was choking.

The people at Rescue for Life seem to think I am a German Shep, Boxer mix! But I say, I am just a good-looking puppy looking for my special forever home!

I am little boy, that is pure white, with one black spot on my rump! I will be about 40-50 pounds when I am full grown - so not very big!

I will be screening everyone who phones about me because I do not want to end up in a dump again! I will require a fenced yard and I will not be looking for an outdoor only home!

My adoption package will include my neuter, vaccinations, and basic obdience starter package!

If you think that I would make a good addition to your family please contact Rescue for Life at info@rescue4life.org or (780) 702-6151.

Bella and Brogan

Hello!

Hello Everyone!

It's Brogan and Bella....we have heard there are many people (in many provinces in Canada) that have been following our rescue story - a rescue from a dump in Northern Alberta.

We wanted to give you a little update...

Our Gaurdian Angel was so worried about us (especially little Bella) out at the dump that she brought us in without lining up a Foster home first.  We were so happy to be brought up in for the dump...we couldn't stop kissing her!  It's a really scrary place out at the dump as it is quite remote and there lots of coyotes that hang around the dump looking for food - plus it's winter here in Alberta!  When she picked us up that night we were so relieved because at the far side of the dump were two brave coyotes that stood watching while she helped us into her car.  She couldn't bring us into her house because she already has her own dogs and fosters...so we all slept out in the car together!

We have already gotten vet checked and fixed at the Parkland Vet Clinic in Spruce Grove, Alberta!  So we've had a busy couple days and just want to rest for a couple of days now.  In addition, we got moved to a temporary Foster Home last night and although we'd LOVE to stay here we probably won't be able to because this Foster Mommy already has 4 dogs.

Both of us LOVE all the dogs in the Foster Home and although we just got fixed we really just wanted to play with them - especially Brogan.  Brogan is absolutely in love with the Foster Home - because it is all girl dogs (all fixed)!

We are pretty much house-trained already!  And we will work on crate-training and some basic obdience too.  However, we are sending this email out because we would love to find a forever home that would perhaps consider the both of us together.  We do know that this only happens rarely but we're not both large dogs (Brogan is 60 lbs - with lots of fur; Bella is 26 lbs and should be about 30lbs).  If you adopted both of us together we would get to stay together and we would have a playmate to play with while you were at work!

These two dogs are very very bonded.  Brogan protected Bella in the dump; Bella would hide in the shack in the dump until she knew Brogan was happy and comfortbale greeting me....she did not even show her face the first 3 days at the dump).  After waking up from there spay and neuter the techs tried to put them in seperate kennels but they got so upset that they ended up putting back together and they totally calmed down again.

Brogan: Great Pyr x Husky x Lab cross.  60 lbs.  Brogan has rear dew claws so we think there is some Great Pyr in him.  We are not looking for a purely outdoor home for this dog.  He is a big lovable dog, well mannered, well socialized.  He will bond to his adoptive family and become the most loyal family member.  He has spent only about 30 mintues with his rescuer over the past 1.5 weeks and he is aboslutely loyal to her. Quiet dog that would love doing agility and going to the off-leash dog park.  Requires a secure 6 ft tall fenced backyard.

Age: 1 year old
Sex: Male
Weight: 60 pounds
(and furry)

Bella: Shelite cross.  26 lbs. Is currently very underweight.  Bella would love a home with her big brother.  A really pretty sweetheart of a dog.  She sat in the front seat of the car and insisted on giving me kisses on my face on all the drives from the dump, to the vet, and to the foster home.

Age: 1 year old
Sex: Female
Weight: 26 pounds

Hello Everyone!

Jan 26 Update: All my puppies are adopted but I still have not found my forever home - so I am a little down. I know my puppies are so happy in their new homes and I am hoping a family will think I am special enough to have me join them! Check my new pic out...do you recognize me now? All my fur has grown back in! Like all adult dogs that come in, I now smile all the time!

Jan 15 Update:  I am spayed and I am so relieved!  No more puppies!  I was so close to coming into my heat cycle so now my hormones are just dropping back down.  I want to let you know that I am on the hunt for my forever home!  I think I would prefer one where I can be the only dog!  I want to be the only one doted on!  All my fur is growing back and my limp is almost all gone!  I am not on any pain meds but have gotten the chance to rest and be in a heated environment!  By the way I had TWO broken legs that have healed on their own – so as an older dog I will probably have arthritis.  I enjoy long walks and require a SECURE fenced backyard.  I do not do well off-leash as I like to the wonder – true to my Great Pyr breed.

Dec 15 Update: I wanted to give everyone update! I am feeling and looking so much better already! I am free of mange and my fur is starting to grown back! All the black spots on me are starting to back pink again! And guess what, I am hardly limping anymore (but I am on some pain meds). Stay tuned for updated pics! And yes...I am looking for my special forever home now.

I'm in! My name is Sophie and I am the Mommy to the three little puppies that are in right now. As you can see I tried very hard to raise my puppies but I was so run down myself, that I could not take care of my puppies very well. I am a Great Pyrenese and I have suffered terribly my whole life. I practically begged my gaurdian angel to take me. I watched her take my very sick puppies but I did not understand why she would not take me also. So I kept waiting at the side of the road for her to come get me too. I galloped on my broken leg when I saw her car but she didn't take me the first time - in fact she made me get out of the car (crying and whining) even though I had hopped in and was waiting to go. But she took me the second time...and I am so relieved. I was so scared about just surviving - I could not sleep at all and you can see how bloodshot my eyes are in the pictures. There are lots of coyotes around where I live and I could not get away from them all with my broken leg.

From my pictures you will see I am missing lots of fur and have mange. I also have bite marks on my face and body - perhaps from another dog or coyote. I also have a broken front left leg - the vet has said that not much can be done at this point since it has already healed but I may get to have a specialist look at it. I trusted these kind people and knew that only better things could come my way - I walked right into my foster home without blinking an eye (like I had been there a million times). I got pampered and even got a bath. These kind people kept telling me I did so well! I'm still really dirty though even though I got bathed for over an hour, so I guess I will have to have a second one. I went to sleep in my kennel and never opened an eye until my Foster Mommy made me get up this morning and go use the washroom. I'm already house-trained and crate-trained and everyone is saying how smart I am. They also said I am a gentle gentle giant. I am about 70 pounds right now but probably should be about 80-90 lbs. I am about a year old right now and I am missing teeth and my teeth are very worn down from trying to scavenge for food.

I am on my was back to 100% health and I am on hunt to find my perfect forever home! If you are looking for that quiet speical girl then I'm the right match for you! I LOVE sleeping and lazing around and I am good with cats too! I enjoy going for walks and playing in the backyard but everything is quick for me since I love being indoors now! I am also house-trained and crate-trained!

As a good Mommy I am also looking for homes for my three beautiful puppies! Just to let you know...I am going to be picky about my forever family because this time around I am want one that will love and take care of me for my whole life. I will not be looking for an outdoor home only because of my leg injury and also I will feel safer indoors with my human family. I am considered special needs since I will always have a limp from my injury. I would also like a fenced backyard or area so that I will feel safe in my new home. I'd also like if you took me to an obdience class so that I can learn lots of new things and so that I can show you how smart I am.

Please contact Rescue for Life at info@rescue4life.org or (780) 702-6151 if you are interested in having Sophie join your family.

My adoption package will include my spay, vaccinations, all required vet work, and basic obedience.

In addition, due to poor health and injuries to these dogs we are taking donations directly towards this family of dogs to help with medication and potential surgery. Donations can be made directly to Parkland Vet (under Rescue for Life) - (780) 962-6300.

Jaykey

Hello Everyone!

Feb 3, 2009: Everything is moving so fast for me! I am so excited because I am adopted already! My new family includes my Mommy, Daddy, and my big tough older brother Dakota (he's 12 but acts like a 5 year old!). I have heard of the adventures my big brother has gone on over his life and if my life is going to be anything remotely like these stories, it's going to be so exiciting! I think my guardian angel who rescued me wishes she could be adopted to this family so she could go on all the adventures too! Stay tuned for new pics!

I am a new arrival! I am about a 7 month old German Shep cross pup (with maybe some collie, maybe some lab, maybe some Husky). I am a fun-loving guy that is just learning that there are kind people in this world. I have been told that I am very handsome and that I have a really neat coat. I am quite submissive in nature and LOVE other dogs!

I will be going in shortly to get neutered. Stay tuned for my pictures and update on me!

I will be about 55-60 pounds when full grown - so not very big at all!

Please contact Rescue for Life at info@rescue4life.org or (780) 702-6151 if you are interested in having Jaykey join your family.

My adoption package will include my neuter, vaccinations, all required vet work, and basic obedience.

Hello!

Jan 25: I am adopted! Yay! I'm so happy because I get to look forward to living my life out with my Mommy, Daddy, and my big brother Wilbur. He matches my energy needs just perfectly. Thanks so much to Rescue for Life and my Foster Mommy for giving me my second chance. I can't tell you happy I really am. By the way, since I came in I got neutered, vaccinated, house-trained, and kennel-trained. And all my basic obedience has been started! I am going to try and convince my new Mommy and Daddy to take me to Agility or Flyball since I know I would excel at this!

Dec. 16: I had a bath today so check out my new handsome pics! Just wanted to let you know that I am a real social bug...I get along with any and all dogs because I am so submissive in nature!

Dec. 12: I am in! I am in! I did not have to suffer in the -40 degree whether this weekend. Instead the only kind person to me thus far in my young life came out Friday night and placed me in a foster home so that I would not have to suffer any more. I can't tell you how happy I am and how much I have changed already! My Foster Mommy says I am so so smart. Although I have been beaten in the past I am learning to trust again already! I already can walk on leash, I know sit, and I know down, and I know come! I would EXCEL at agility as I am bright, young, and quick on my feet. I am also very submissive in nature and would do excellent with a quiet male or female human companion. I am learning not to chase cats and I am good with dogs too! My Foster Mommy spent lots of time brushing me out and now I am very handsome looking....stay tuned for some up-date pictures!

I am a beautiful Australian Shep cross...I may even have some Heeler, Collie, or Belgian Shep in me. I am about a 1 year old boy and very very gentle.

I am only about 45 pounds and I depend upon Rescue for Life for all my food. All of us out here get about 200-400 lbs of food dropped for us a week! It's a lot of work and a lot of co-ordination (and a lot of donations!) but it keeps up a live until we find our forever families! Some of us will live to find those families...some of us won't. Only about 1 in 4 of us get to come in. We will remain under Rescue for Life as a foster until our vet care is completed and then we will be able to join your family as a permanent member!

An Adoption Package includes a spay/neuter, vaccinations, all vet care while under Rescue for Life, and a basic obedience course.

PLEASE CONSIDER ADOPTING ONE OF US TODAY AS EACH ADOPTION MEANS ANOTHER DOG CAN COME IN!

If you are interested in meeting me and making me a member of your family please contact Rescue for Life at (780) 702-6151 or info@rescue4life.org.

Ratatoullie Trudy

Hello!

I am 10 weeks old and looking for my special forever family. I had a really really rough start to life but I am now realizing that people can be my friends. In my short life thus far, I was very abused and kicked at. I was not to sure if my Foster Mommy was going to do this to me too but I have quickly realized that she is really kind to me - and all her friends are too! I have gained so much confidence that I like to stick my nose into everything now!

I am more submissive in nature and I want a family that will continue to build my confidence. I LOVE playing with my three big sisters and I LOVE playing with the cats (some of them even play with me!)

I am crate-trained and house-trained! I even bark to tell you that I need to go outside and use the washroom...but I expect to be let back in right away as I like to be with my foster family. I am not going to be very big when I am full grown...maybe only 40-45 pounds!

My adoption package will include my spay, vaccinations, and a basic obedience course.

If you are interested in meeting me and making me a member of your family please contact Rescue for Life at (780) 702-6151 or info@rescue4life.org.

Dec 15 Update: We got our clean bill of health today! No more mange and we are starting to grow our fur back already! I am still the big brother of my litter but my Foster Mommy says I am the clumsiest of the three as I am still not quite co-ordinated yet. I expect to be about 70 pounds when full grown and my I am called a Great Pyr Lab cross. I was the sickest of the three of us but I have sure made up for it! I love to play but not to be outdone by my two sisters....I also am a cuddlebug and love cuddle time!. We are all a little sad because no wanted us in our previous lives and so far not many people have been interested in us...but we want you to know that we are now ready for adoption and are taking applicants!

We are three puppies (10 weeks old) that were rescued from horrifying conditions. Our Mommy is Sohpie and she is the best Mommy we could have - she tried very hard to keep us all alive but only three of us survived. We are on our way back to 100% health and love to play. We look bad in these pictures but we just wanted to show you how hard a life we had! We are starting to grow our fur back now already!

Our Foster Mommy has nursed us back to health and we are going to be ready for adoption in the next couple weeks - so we are also on the hunt for perfect homes!

I am the big boy among my sisters. I like to play with my bigger sister. I will need a home that will teach me all the rules I need to learn. I am a Great Pyrenees and am looking for my forever home.

My adoption package will include my spay, vaccinations, all required vet work, and basic obedience.

Hey Everyone!

I'm adopted!! I have a family and it's the best present I could get for Christmas! I have a great Mommy and Daddy and doggy brother to play with! Thanks so much to Perfect Place Kennels (and my trainer Steve) who helped to become a well mannered boy!

Nov 16: Maybe you did not hear me the first time but I am still up for adoption!  No one has called about me and I'm feeling a little down about this.  I would really really like to get my own home and family as I'm getting a little tired of my stay at the kennels.  I actually really love it at the kennels because I get to play with dogs all the time and I have learned so much, but I still dream of having my own real home and family.

Do you recognize me? I was adopted as a young 8 week old puppy but I am back here again and up for adoption. I am 11 months old now and people tell me I am very beautiful and have a big bounce in my step. I have some Collie, Sheltie, Rotti, and Shep all mixed into me and maybe even some more! I would do excellent as an agility dog since I am an active boy.

I am staying at Perfect Place Kennels - so I am getting lots of training on learning how to be a well-mannered boy. I LOVE playing with other dogs but I need someone to correct me when I make mistake. I had no socialization when I was young so I am still learning.

If you are interested in adopting me you will have to provide a loving environment and a fenced yard. I am an active dog so I will need an active family who has the time for me. I will also need you to continue my training.

Please contact Rescue for Life if you are interested in me!

Hi:

I'm adopted! My foster family fell in love with me and decided to adopt me! It's my BIG brother Gizmo that really convinced my two human Mommies to adopt me. MY big brother loves me so much and we play all the time. I have kitty friends too that I really like also.

Parkland Vet is currently helping me work on getting over some skin issues but stay tuned to see more pictures of Gizmo and me.

I am going to be learning lots in my obedience classes that start in January. I may even get to do agility next summer!

I AM IN!!

Oct 31: Hello everyone...I have an update. I was neutered and x-ray was taken of my back leg. All my people friends were so so shocked to find out that my hind leg had been shattered by a gun shot wound. I have bullet fragments in my back leg and they also say it was a miracle how I have healed on my own - I don't even have a limp! I was shot at when I was just 3-4 months old and my vet thinks I ran around on just 3 legs for many months. I am so happy now that I will never have another person bean mean to me.

Oct 23: Hello Everyone! I can not tell you how relieved I am that I was rescued from my scary horrible life at the dump. I am only about 8 months old and I have had a hard life. I was thrown out at the dump by not so nice people. I got attacked by coyotes and have several bite wounds on my face, ears, and body. I was trying so hard to get cars to stop and pick me up at the dump that I got hit by one and injured my front leg - but only a minor ligament injury that will heal. The worst thing though is that I broke my hind leg about 8-12 weeks ago but it has healed with a big bump on my leg - I can walk, run, and play though! I also broke my tail and although healed....it's bumpy. I am very very skinny now though and because of bad nutrition my fur has fallen out in places. But now that I am not stressed and I have good food I will start to look better very soon!

I have to tell you about my foster home and my foster brother. I have a great foster home with some kitties and biggest dog I have ever seen! He is 120 lbs and I got to play with him the very first night. I love playing since I have never been able to in the past.

Stay tuned and I will post some pictures of my big foster brother and me looking healthier. I am going in for my neuter next week and will also have my first vaccinations. I love my new kennel and I have two Foster Mommies who are going to show me lots of new things.

If you are interested in making me a forever addition to your family please contact Rescue for Life.

Oct 19: I am not in yet. I am still living at the dump waiting for a foster home. I am dying to come in because it is cold and not safe here. I am being fed but it is very lonely here.

I am about a 8 month old male Rotti cross that loves to play. I have been abused in the past but I can trust again. Please consider fostering me if you have a spot in your home.

I am active playful boy and will provide you with lots of companionship while I am looking for my forever home.

Berlin Toffee Taff

I am adopted!! It did not take very long either - but I am a really special girl. My forever family has the best Mommy and Daddy I could ask for and I am going to enjoy being friends with my two kitty sisters. My Mommy and Daddy are going to take me to obdience classes too so that I get to learns lots and they will too!

My name is Berlin Toffee Taff and I am a lab shep cross.  I was just brought in from a dump and I am so happy!  Everyone is telling me that I am such an awesome well-balanced dog.  I have a quiet disposition and am calm around dogs, cats, and people.  I do enjoy playing with other dogs since I am a young dog myself - about a year old.  I am spayed and up-to-date on my vet care.  I am house-trained and crate-trained - I will request that you continue to provide me with a kennel in my new home.  I am full grown and a medium sized dog at 70 pounds (not very tall but well muscled!).  I walk excellent quite well on leash and I don't pull at all.  I am also starting to learn some basic commands.

I am looking for my forever home - hopefully one with at least one dog to play with!  I am requesting a loving, responsible family who will provide me with socialization, exercise, and training.  I am also looking to be an indoor dog with lots of walks and lots of playtime in my fenced backyard! If you think you are the right family for me please contact Rescue for Life so we can meet!

Merlin

Hello Everyone!

My name is Merlin - like magic. It suits me perfectly since it was like magic being brought in from the dump and having my forever home waiting to adopt me.

I patiently waited at the dump and watched as both Berlin and Joe Joe Jonny were picked up at the entrance of the dump. So I decided to try it to! I was waiting at the entrance just like the dogs and my gaurdian angel came to check if any new dogs had been dumped. She saw me scurry off to the side and didn't think I would ever come up to her. She meowed to me and I came running over - so happy for the attention. I was a little nervous in the dump so I had to be trapped in a live animal trap. However, as soon as I was safe inside I have become my normal lovebug self. I LOVE being petted and I love talking to you.

My new home has another kitty, two doggies, and a Mommy and Daddy that will always look after me. I was so tired when I got to my new home that I fell asleep right away with all my legs in the year - I knew I had found my forever home.

Thanks to everyone for helping me find me new home!

UPDATE (Oct 2008): OK OK......I am adopted! I finally convinced my foster Mommy to keep me. She tells me that I have taught her lots about training because I was a real challenge and still am. But she has also helped me overcome many of my fears and insecurities. I now have doggy friends!!! I love to play with other dogs but I am still working on not being so excited and rough in my greetings becuase I scare them off. I play with my sister Hanna now but I am still waiting to play with Kya since she is still too scared of me. I also play gently with the cats in the house! I also LOVE agility! My Mommy says I am super smart cause I learn commands on just one try - I know the names of all my toys now!

UDATE (Nov 13, 2007): I just graduated from my Beginner's Obdience Class and I am looking forward to starting my next class!! I am trying to learn how to play with other dogs but I'm still a little scared. But I'm very curious!

UPDATE (Nov 1, 2007): My new foster Mommy has been working very hard with me to help me overcome some of the things I am scared of. I get nervous around other dogs and sometimes things I have not seen/heard before. I was in a previous home where not a lot of time was spent with me and this created a lot of problems I am working very hard at overcoming. I LOVE people and cats and am working on how to get along with dogs. I am in obdience classes and I learning lots in these classes but it is still hard for me. I would love to go to a home where I was the only dog to be doted on. I love cats, so friendly cat friend would be great.

UPDATE (May 25, 2007): I've been spayed, had a nasty growth removed from my neck, had a fractured tooth pulled, had a nail fixed, and more skin scrapings completed, and lots more. My vet bills so far are over $3000!!

Hi! I am looking for my special forever home. I am considered special needs because I need someone who will be firm with me and be my pack leader. I would like to go to a home where my new Mommy and/or Daddy will continue working/training with me so that I can build more confidence. As a result of poor socialization in my previous home I have developed some insecurities but I LOVE people and want to learn and please.

I LOVE cats and people. But I have some problems with dogs so I would prefer to be the only dog in the household. But I will more than make up for it since I have so much love to give out.

I was very run down when I come in...so much so that I gave my Mommy such a surprise when my ears started standing up when I was 10 months old! I LOVE people so much. I like to play withkids and I love cats.

I am crate-trained and house-trained. I need a very secure yard since if I get out or am off-leash I get very excited and forget to come back home.

Please contact Rescue for Life if you would like me to become a member of your family!

Gracie

Hi!

I'm adopted! I have a great Mommy and Daddy and a Pug brother called Payne. My Mommy and Daddy have taken us both to obdience and are teaching us both good manners.

I am a girl and I was second born!

We are about 7 weeks old and full of play!

Our Mommy was rescued and gave birth to five of us! Our litter consists of four girls and boy.

We will be looking for loving responsible forever homes. We will want a family that can give us a secure fenced yard and will be active in training and socializing us. We are currently up for adoption but we will not go to our new homes until the age of 8-12 weeks - depending on our Mommy weaning and socializing us.

We will be medium sized dogs when full grown - about 60-65 pounds.

Our adoption fee will include a spay/neuter, first vaccinations, an initial vet check, and rear dew claws removed.

If you are interested in one or more of us please contact Rescue for Life

Hi!

I am adopted! My new family includes my Mommy and Daddy, my older sister Nella (who may not be around much longer due to old age but I will make sure to bring some life back into her), and my kitty family!

Edna (Eddie)

I am adopted! I have the best of homes with my Mommy, Daddy, and a younger brother that I get to play with and hopefully tire out!

Hi! Do you recognize me? I am the proud Mommy to the puppies that are currently in right now and are up for adoption. I am about 6-7 years old and have had many many puppies in my life. Many of them have not been so lucky as these ones. Since so many good homes have been calling about my puppies I thought that maybe someone with a kind heart would be interested in me.

Like Bart, I have had a very hard life and am looking forward to a change. If at all possible I would love to go to a home with Bart because I would be able to make him be less shy. We were both abused and neglected but they were meaner to Bart.

I am about 50 pounds and am very submissive. I am a Shep Collie mix and am very gentle.

My owners no longer want Bart and myself as they have replaced us with puppies. However, we have lots of life left in us and would love to share that with a family.

If you would like to meet me and think I would be a great addition to your family please contact Rescue for Life.

March 27, 2008:

These two very injured dogs are currently living in a dump and we will be attempting to bring them in this weekend.  They are a bonded pair and we are looking for a foster home/adoption home that would possibly be able to keep the two together.  If not, we will seek two foster/adoption homes - one for each.  After all the pair have been through, it would be nice to see them stay together.

White Dog: This dog is a male and has a major soft tissue injury. He will not bear weight on his front right leg you will notice in the pictures that he has many bite marks over his leg and body. We are guessing he got into a fight with a coyote or another dog, perhaps even in defense of his sick friend. He was initially very shy of human contact but over several weeks has gained the trust of humans. He has given kisses and hugs and is so happy to see us.  He is the braver of the two since his friend is injured even more.  This dog appears to be a Husky/lab cross and has beautiful light amber eyes.  He is about 1-3 years old. His tail has been cut off and is only about 3 inches long.  He is quite underweight and he whimpers once in a while probably because of his leg. He actually really enjoys playing and tries to play with his sick friend.

Age: Unknown (1-3 years)
Sex: Male
Weight: 58 pounds

Black/Tan Dog:  This dog is also a boy.  He is very very injured in the back end and his legs are two straight sticks and you can tell he is in severe pain. The vet had told us that he has two crushed femoral heads - this will require extensive surgery.   He was even attempting to only stand on his front two legs when he ate his food in the dump.  When he tries to walk/hobble it's more like an awkward hop.  This dog has also been abused and is shy.  He is shy because he knows he can't run from us so he must be careful that he can trust us but he has also come up for pets.  He is at most about a year old and is a Shepherd cross.  His tail has also been cut off and is only about 3 inches long.  He is very underweight and his back end has lost muscle tone.

Age: Unknown (approx. 1 year)
Sex: Male
Weight: 54 pounds

These dogs will become some of the most loyal dog companions that a person could ever meet simply because they have never experienced any positive contact with humans.  They will thrive with the attention and affection, good food, shelter, training, and vet care we provide them with.

If you are interested in fostering/adopting one or both of these dogs please contact us at (780) 702-6151.  We will also be taking donations for these two dogs as they will require extensive surgeries.  Donations can be made directly to Parkland Vet Clinic at (780) 962-6300 under Rescue for Life or we can be contacted directly

Hi!

March 30, 2008: I just wanted to let you know that I'm adopted! My Mommy and I match each other in personality so much - we're real softies! I will get to enjoy the company of my human family, my kitty friend, and I will get to learns lots with obdience training. My Mommy, Grandma, and myself learned so much in our first lesson at Perfect Place Kennels. I was a little scared about all this training but I am going to show my Mommy how smart I really am!

I'm in! I was rescued from my miserable life at a dump. I am a big puppy and very loving and gentle. My foster home has lots of dogs, cats, and people for me to play with. I am workking on my house-training and crate-training. I just got spayed, my first vaccination, and my rabies vaccination. I have learned to walk on leash and love my walks. But I just love being petted and doted on.

Spotty

Hi:

March 1, 2008: My foster Mom and Dad decided to adopt me! They said that I was so upset when I came back from my first adoptive home that they didn't want to see me get so upset again. I will get to live out my retirement with my Mommy and Daddy, my doggy sisters, and all my cat friends.

January 11, 2008: I thought I found my forever home but I started getting really stressed out so I am back at my Foster Parents home. I would like my new home to have a big fenced back yard and at least one other doggy to be my friend. For my whole life I have had doggy friends and it is hard for me not to have one now.

I am not doing too well right now but I am under vet care for my injuries. I am a mature quiet female and I will be looking for a quiet forever home when I am feeling better. I am submissive and am used to being around other dogs. I am very happy now though because I do not have to worry anymore. I am a lab cross and after my bath I am feeling just great (look how clean, white and fluffly I look in the bottom picture)!

I am really proud to say that I am working on my house-training and crate-training and I am doing really well. I like going and resting in the kennel on the blankets. I like the cats and dogs in my house and I am trying to learn so much new stuff...climbing stairs, going through doors, baths, lots of food, drinking from a water bowl, being brushed and petted....I'll keep you updated! Most of all, I am trying to understand why so many people are paying so much attention to me.

Spotty is on antibiotics and will remain under vet care until she is healed. If you think you are the right family for this quiet female please phone 702-6151 or email info@rescue4life.org. If you would like to make a donation towards Spotty's vet care please call 702-6151 or the donation can be made in Spotty's name at Parkland Vet Clinic (780) 962-6300

Thanks to Parkland Vet Clinic for the vet care provided to Spotty.

Charlie (Brutus)

Hi!

March 19: I know that some of you are following my story and I want to update you on how I am doing! Well I just had my major surgery - a complicated femoral head removal, pelvis surgery completed by Parkland Vet Clinic.

My best friend and Mommy wants to share a few words with you: Here are a couple of pics of my star patient from the weekend. He is now out of his bandage and his half naked bum is totally exposed to the world:) He is an amazing boy. He is doing very well. So far no ill effects at all. He is happy and playful. He hops along on 3 legs like a viking...but I suspect he's had practice previously and at least he has pain med's this time. He has, though, been taking full advantage of being 'sick' and will stand by my bed at 3 in the morning and whine until I come lay on the floor with him for a bit. He also insists that he should get more treats but I'm onto him;)

January 18: I'm in! I'm really in! I know a lot of people have been following my story so I wanted to update you right away. I gave my rescuers a really hard time when they were trying to catch me...now I'm thinking I was really silly because I am really the luckiest boy in the world. I was really scared of people so I was very shy about coming near them but now I am in this house where I am being doted on. I get to live with my Husky sister and all she wants to do is play! I don't even know how to play but I'm going to learn for sure! I also get to live with two dog friendly cats and the best Mommy I could ever have!

The first thing I was given was two big bowls of water and I devoured it...I didn't get water in my previous life so this was a real treat for me. I was also given my very own kennel and I feel very secure in it and I like to go lay down in it to take a rest. I even got to go for a walk my first night in - this was very new to me but these people kept telling me I did so well on the leash.

Thanks so much to everyone involved in brining me in and for not giving up on me. I really didn't like my name so it's changed - Charlie suits me better. I am going to show you some pictures of my new life so please check back!

My name is Brutus but I am no brute.  I am a dog that has been quite ill-treated at my current home (I wouldn't really call it a home but more a place to hang out).  While all my other doggy friends are given food to eat and are even overweight, the people in the house will not allow me to me eat any food.  They shoo me away and are very mean to me (hit me and throw rocks) and I have to stand and watch all my friends eat their food and then if there are any scraps left I will go clean that up.  You can see from my pictures that I am quite underweight and my fur is not the shiniest right now.  I am a little shy and nervous initially around new people because I have no idea whether you are going to be mean to me.  But once I know you will be nice to me I will wag my tail for you.  I am proud to say that I get along great with cats and dogs!  I am two years old and am a Husky Shep mix.

I am just getting ready to come into my foster home.  People have heard about my story and have donated towards all my vet costs (neutering, vaccinations, deworming, and a tattoo in my ear).  I thought I would put word out that I am looking for my very own loving responsible family to call my own.  In return I will be a devoted loyal companion to you and your family and will give you lots of affection.

Hi Everyone!

January 19: I'm adopted! Yay! You know how the old saying goes...save the best for last! My new home is just my Daddy and me - we are going to be best friends. I will get to go to the offleash park regulary, daily walks, and I will get to show my Daddy how smart I am in obdience classes! I am going to be a really spoiled girl by both my Daddy and my Grandma!

January 15: I'm the last one left!!! No fair. I was told I have the cutest mug shot and I am Miss Personality Plus....I don't get why I am not adopted yet. You must come visit me because I know you will fall in love with me. I am just about house-trained and I am well socialized with dogs, cats, and my human friends! I would love to find my forever home because all my brothers and sisters were so excited to go to there new homes.

We just got in!! There are six of us but there were seven. Our sibling didn't make it and froze to death but we are all happy and warm now. We are about 8 weeks old and were found under a shed. We are Rotti crosses (mixed up with some other breeds). There are 2 females and 4 males among us. So if you think we would make a great addition to your family please call 702-6151. We are looking for forever loving homes.

I will be a good medium sized dog when fully grown - about 50-55 lbs.

Hi!

I have a very sad story to tell you but the ending is really happy because I got adopted!

I was dumped in a dump because I was no longer a puppy and I had gone into heat. I was no longer wanted because I was not a cute puppy anymore.

My ending is happy though! I got adopted into a great family and I have four doggy friends, kitty friends, and human friends! I will never have to worry about having puppies that would be at risk of finding good homes.

Please Spay and Neuter!

Update (Nov 16, 2007): I'm adopted! I have a great home with great people and a doggy friend! I'm so excited to start my new life here.

Hi!

I just got in tonight and I am so tired that I am sleeping (snoring is the term my foster Mommy used) on a sofa in my new foster home.  I can't tell you how happy I am - I have food, water, a warm bed, dogs and cats to play with, and people who pet and cuddle me.  I didn't know I was going to get all this when I ran up to this stranger on the highway.  I am about 10-12 weeks old (can't remember my birthday) and I'm a little boy.  I'm told I am a Lab/Husky mix and my human friends are predicting I won't be a very large dog - maybe 45-50 pounds.  My tail never stops wagging but I am quite shy right now and can barely even walk because I'm not very confident yet.  I've attached some pictures but I couldn't sit still so they aren't very good but there will be lots more to come.

In a few weeks when I've gained some weight (since I'm very skinny right now) and have had my vet check I am going to be looking forward to going to my forever loving home - so if you know anyone that thinks I would be a great addition please call Rescue for Life at 702-6151

Monkey

I'm adopted! I was so stressed about the winter coming. I am about 2.5 years old and I had a decent life as a barn cat (food, water, shelter) but I HATED all the other cats around me. I was just too scared of them all that I could not even make it to the barn to eat so I was happy when I got an indoor home. I love being inside where it is warm. I like my doggy and human friends in my new house but what's even better is there are not no cats!!

Ella

Ella is a little tuxedo kitten that was found in a garbage can at the age of 5 weeks in a back alley of Spruce Grove.

She was brought in with an upper respiratory infection and part of her tail frostbitten.

Ella is now around 13 months of age and continues to have breathing problems due to either polyps or asthma.  She will be requiring surgery and medications and will also need to have part of her tail amputated once she is a little bigger.

UPDATE (May 25, 2007): I've had more x-rays taken and am being referred to a specialist in Calgary because I still can not get better. Please make a contribution to my ever accumalating going vet bills. Thanks!

Please make a donation to Rescue for Life if you would like to contribute to Ella’s on-going medical care.

Cheeko

When I got brought in I was so exhausted that I could barely stay awake. I got warm baths, lots of food, and warm blankets.

I have bad sarcoptic mange when I was brought in and was very itchy.  I also had a big belly right of worms and a little cough. I am now in tip top shape and am looking for my forever home.

I am medium to large sized now and I absolutely adore the company of other dogs and would like a home with other doggy friends. I also enjoy cats and will share my space with them. I love to be petted and enjoy my exercise in my big back yard.

If you think I could be the perfect fit for you please contact Rescue for Life.

Ellie

Hi! I am now enjoying the great comforts of a real home and lots of love...a big difference from my life at a dump.

I am a smaller girl (37lbs) and maybe a Beagle/Husky/Shep mix. I am quieter but I love to play. I LOVE people and I get lots of attention in my foster home from my people, doggy, and kitty friends. I love going for walks but best of all, I love cuddles and hugs.

I am crate-trained, house-trained, and all trained to give you lots of love!

I am looking for my forever family. If you think I would be a good fit into your home please call Rescue for Life.

Update (August 3): I've been adopted! I am a special little girl and I am enjoying the attention I am getting from my new family. I get to go on lots of walks, to the doggy park, and I am going to be starting obdience training this Fall to show my parents how smart I really am!

Madison

I am finally in! I was first noticed outside about eight months ago and it took a lot of coordination to bring me in because I became elusive due to having pups.

I am about a 5 year old Husky. I am a special needs dog looking for my quiet forever home. Some of my problems include that I am blind in my right eye due to trauma, I have an old injury to my knee and a paw that causes me to run slower than normal and I walk with my leg turned in a little. Someone very mean also burned me (fire or acid) on my back but I am healing from this now. My right ear is also torn but healed now.

I love being petted and I am so gentle. I also love the company of other dogs. I think you would really fall in love with me if you come visit me.

UPDATE: A more thorough physical of Maddie has revealed she has no front teeth left. They are worn right to the gum. She also has injuries to her gums from the constant foraging she had to do while outdoors. These injuries are not causing her any pain.

Maddie has been put on a glucosamine supplement and is now crate trained and really loves it! She is also house-trained and loves playing with the two resident dogs!

Maddie is not an overly active dog and her playtime is more just rolling around. She will need daily walks to ensure that she maintains a healthy weight.

Please stop by and visit me if you think you could provide me with my forever home.

Yote

January 7, 2008: My new Mommy sent a few words to Rescue for Life on my new life and on how well I am doing. Please take a look at my newest pictures. My family is so happy with me and they say I have grown such a beautiful coat since I have come in (I do have to agree). I grew to be a little over 50 lbs!! I really made up for my bad start in life! My Mommy says I like kids too much and I still love to play fetch and play with squeaky toys. I tried to make friends with my kitty friend in the house but not to much avail...but I will keep trying! Thank you so much to everyone who gave me this second chance at life...I am very much enjoying it and would love all my friends to experience a real family also.

This little puppy was brought in with severe sarcoptic mange, skin infections, ear infections, and extremely underweight.   The only thing that looks good on him is his pearly white teeth.

He has a very healty appetite which is in his favor but he was probably within days of dying due to his weakness.

He was quite shy when brought in and you could not touch his head because it was so sore. However, we quickly found out how much he loves under the neck scratches.

He won't be a very big dog at all - we think he will be stunted due to his malnutrition.  He will probably reach a grand weight of 25-30 pounds.

In the few days he has been in his personality has bloomed and he just loves the affection he gets from people. Although he can not be socialized with cats and dogs because of his mange we do know that he gets along with cats and dogs.

He is house-trained and crated trained - it only took 2 days!!

Keep this little boy in mind if you know someone looking to adopt a smaller pup/dog.  He will not be ready for adoption for a few months.

We are accepting donations for this little boy (lots of blankets are needed because they have to be changed 2-3 times a day to avoid re-infection and each blanket has to be bleached right away). He would even love a visit so that he can become socialized while he is in quarantine.  He will have very limited contact with people for the next few months.

UPDATE (August 13): I am feeling so much better now - I am 26 pounds! So much better that whenever I have someone visit me in my room I maul them cause I am so excited. I am dying to play with the resident dogs but I have been told that I have to wait because I am still sick - sure doesn't feel like it! My foster mommy says I eat like a horse - if she let me I would eat more than my much bigger sisters but she only gives me small amounts of food. She found out that I was very very smart and that I love to climb so she had to move my bag of food to a high shelf. I love to play fetch and I love the outdoors but I get really upset and worried if I am left outside by myself. In the past two weeks I have found my voice. I think it is really funny because my foster mommy is very jumpy and everytime I bark she flies off the couch because it is so loud. I have a big bark to make up for my small size. But I don't bark a lot - I just like testing it out.

I got my name, Yote, because sometimes when I am lonely in my room I let a howl like a Coyote. My foster mommy was shocked when she heard it the first time but it's only cause I am dying to join the family and I can not yet.

Hanna

I am just so happy to be in now. I am a Husky cross and really really quiet. I am house-trained and just love being petted. I have demodectic mange but I am working on getting over this with yummy food and my medicine. I maybe pregnant but I am just going to keep it as a surprise for my foster Mommy!

UPDATE: I was not pregnant but I had puppies and I was trying to wean them so I did not show my foster Mommy where my pups were. My Mommy saw my pups (2 of them) a few days later and she tried so hard to catch them but they were shy and they ended up not making it - they will always be remembered.

My Mommy says I am so pretty with my golden head and big ears. But I am going to show her how pretty I can be once I get a nice coat on me!

Right now I am just taking in all the attention from people but I do not mind dogs so I think another doggy friend would be really great!

My front teeth are worn to the gums because I have spent many years trying to find scraps of food to eat. They do not cause me any pain and I do not have to worry about finding food anymore.

Once I am 100% healthy I will be ready for adoption! So please keep me in mind if you think I would be the perfect friend for you.

Tia (Thea)

I was found at a dump in Northern Alberta very underweight, with a rope tied around my neck that was strangling me, and with sarcoptic mange. I was a little shy at first but am starting to trust people. I had so many changes so quickly that right now I am just trying to keep up!

Annie

I was found at a dump in Northern Alberta very underweight, with a rope tied around my neck that was strangling me, and with sarcoptic mange. I was a little shy at first but am starting to trust people. I had so many changes so quickly that right now I am just trying to keep up!

I just love sleeping and my first night in you could hear me deeply snoring. I get to sleep in my Mommy and Daddy's bedroom everynight!

I am used to my crate now and I am all house-trained - it only took me one day! My new Mommy and Daddy say I am such a quick learner.

Annie hates anything that looks like a stick (ie. brooms etc) - she will just cower until they are put away. Annie also is overcoming her fear of the night - this probably developed due to having to fend for herself as a tiny pup.

Annie was adopted into her forever home and has joined a family that will give her everything that she deserves and so much more.

Kya

Kya was found on the side of a highway. She has been diagonized with severe demodectic mange and it will be an uphill battle before she is 100% healthy. She is currently being treated for this and her initial treatment will continue for about two months.

We think that Kya will get over her skin issues once her immune system is built up with nutrional food and her medical treatment continues. She is currently extremely malnourished and thus her immune system is compromised resulting in the demodectic mange.

She was brought in weighing 37 pounds and we are working towards getting her in the 65 pound range - she does not mind this at all!

Kya is so gentle and will lay her beautiful freckeled face in your hands and fall asleep standing up. Kya is experiencing for the first time in her life that people do care about her. She has a lot to learn!

Kya recieved her name in honor of a dog that passed away last year. The proud sponser of Kya felt that Kya deserved this name due to her fighting spirit to stay alive.

UPDATE (May 15, 2006): Kya is getting better and stronger every day! She is a super fast runner and is now 50 pounds! Her medical treatment is on-going and there are drastic improvements. She has learned to play and just loves to play fetch! She is very gentle with the cats and is now crate-trained. Just a sweetheart of a dog and so appreciative of the attention she gets! She is still too scared to go up or down stairs and has not attempted this yet.

UPDATE (July 1, 2006): Still getting better, still trying to grow a nice coat. Small setback with a persistent urinary tract infection that finally we beat after three months of antibiotics.

Kya would love to meet her forever family and tell you more about her story.

Leia

I am a German Shepherd cross and I am about 9 months old. I love my current family but my Mommy is very allergic to me so I am looking for a special new home.

I have been spoiled by my family and I enjoy the company of children. I have been an indoor puppy with lots of excercise in my big fenced backyard. I am good around other dogs and animals and I love to go swimming.

I am spayed and all up-to date with all my shots. I am house-trained and I know some obedience (sit, stay,  shake-a-paw).

I am still a puppy and I have lots to learn but I need a new family to do this with. If you are interested in having me join your family please contact Rescue for Life. I will bring my own bed and my favorite toys with me.

Sadie Ciara (Sika)

I was found on the side of a highway in Northern Alberta after being noticed in the same spot for several weeks. I am a black lab cross and about 12 months old (based on my spaying info). I was very shy, underweight, and so scared of everything that I could not even walk. I do not have a lot of confidence about all these new things but I am very gentle - I am learning so quickly though. I love belly rubs and I am learning so much about many new things - riding in cars, living inside a house, belly rubs, yummy food, lots of water, and getting so many hugs and kisses.

Sadie got adopted to her loving forever home. She has been renamed and her new name is Sika. She knew instantly that things were going to be really good for her at her new home and immediately bonded with her family. She has kitty friends as well as a horse, sheep, birds, and a great people family to have lots of fun and peace with!

Prince

Prince, a Collie Shepherd cross, was rescued at the young age of 8 weeks starving to death on the side of a highway and with severe skin issues. He was so fragile when brought in that his foster parents thought that his daily baths may result in a bone being broken. With lots of love and not to mention yummy food Prince grew into a beautiful strong puppy with such a soft coat.

Prince was diagonized with Diabetes Insipidus. He has a chance of outgrowing this problem but is on medication currently. He gets 1-2 drops a day of medicine just inside of his nose so that he does not have to drink lots of water. With low salt/low potassium food and his medication Prince will lead a normal full life.

Prince is a very lucky boy and got adopted into his forever home where he is sure to get pampered!

Adele Danika (Addie)

Adele (probably a Shepherd, Rotti, Collie, Husky mix) was rescued at the young age of 8 weeks trying to survive on her own without her Mummy. Adele had severe mange but has grown into the most beautiful puppy with the shiniest black coat possible.

Her foster Mommy fell in love with her and decided to adopt her herself.

Derby Flann (Orange Dynamo)

Derby Flann (I could win the Kentucky Derby with my speed!)

I found my foster Mommy long after she rescued all those other kittens from the Stony Plain Industrial Park but in the exact same location. I thought I would give her a heart attack when I bolted into her office with her at around midnight one night...good thing I didn't or I would not have found the great home I did.

I was a very thin kitten! She looked for my owners but no one claimed me so she got me neutered and she adopted me out to a really great home for me! The same home where Allie was living.

I loved to terrorize the other cats... but I was only playing!

Allie

Allie was one of the three little girls (Allie, Annie, and Abbie) that Jose had in the Stony Plain Rescue Park. Jose and her three little girls were trapped in a live animal trap. Allie was the last little girl to be trapped and I can only imagine how scared she must have been by herself (without her Mommy) at the young age of 5 weeks. She was extremely shy which is what contributed to taking so long in bringing her in. In fact, we did not even use the live animal trap - a volunteer reached inside the area she was living in and grabbed her. She was absolutely terrified and it took a lot of encouragement to win her trust over the months we fostered her. Until the day she was adopted, at six months of age, she remained wary of people (her initial contact with humans must have left an imprint on her) .

Allie was adopted to the same great home as Derby Flann! Hopefully, that outgoing bundle of energy will do the job of bringing Allie out of her shell!

Salem

I was found wondering around outdoors really really scared. I was lost and I was not used to being outdoors at all. I was brought in and the search began for my owners. They could not be located so I was neutered I got adopted to a great indoor home with a great playmate!

I could jump 4 feet and do back flips for my toys!

Update: Salem's original owners were found by coincidence. They were happy that there boy had been found and had been given a good home.

Oliver

Annie

Annie, the runt of the litter, was one of the three little girls (Allie, Annie, and Abbie) that Jose had in the Stony Plain Rescue Park. Jose and her three little girls were trapped in a live animal trap.

Annie got very ill and ended up in an incubator for a few days. However, she survived to be adopted into her forever home including two kittie sisters!

Abbie (Sheba)

Abbie was one of the three little girls (Allie, Annie, and Abbie) that Jose had in the Stony Plain Rescue Park. Jose and her three little girls were trapped in a live animal trap.

Abbie was the most out-going of the three little girls so it is no surprise that she was the first to get trapped and the first to get adopted. She found her loving forever home that includes a kittie sister and two gentle young girls!

Abbie was adopted out under a local rescue group

Lucy

Lucy was trapped in a live animal trap in the Stony Plain Industrial Park. It is believed that she was either Jose's sister or mother. These two looked identical but Lucy's ear had been frozen off already suggesting that she was older than Jose.

Lucy was feral and too old to be changed in her ways. She was spayed, dewormed, and vaccinated and then placed in a barn with a couple of other feral kitty friends, lots of hay, lots of food and water, and even toys and a litter box!

Lucy had two kittens of her own in the Stony Plain Industrial Park prior to being taken in. One of the kittens unfortunately passed away before she could be brought in. The other got adopted to a great home in Fort McMurray.

Jose

Jose was trapped in a live animal trap in the Stony Plain Industrial Park. It is believed that she was either Lucy's sister or daughter. These two looked identical but Jose was lucky enough to still have her ears. Jose was only about 10 months old when trapped and she had already had two litters. She is the proud Mommy of Allie, Abbie, Annie, Levi, and Jasper.

Jose was feral but her foster Mommy worked with her for over a year to turn her into a loving little girl who now dies to be brushed! Her foster Mommy ended up keeping her because of the close bond that was formed.

Rubicon

Rubie was found in Edmonton at the young age of 5 weeks and was believed to be part Siamese. She was a unique kitten (perhaps the Siamese in her) due to the fact that you could not hold her without getting clawed. The only time you could pet her was when she would sneak into the bedroom for midnight snuggling and pets; it is only then that her claws would disapear.

Although, not from the same litter as the Stony Plain Industrial Park girls, Rubie learned to play fetch like all the other girls.

Rubie was extremely lucky to be adopted into a family who was aware of her unique personality. She now lives in a cat paradise with her best kitty friend.

Levi

I don't know why this picture has to be shown of me...I'm really not a Mummy's boy. I am a top cat and if Leo was not living here I would absolutely rule! I love sleeping with my Mommy (Jose) and my best friend still remains my brother Jasper.

It was very cold out and when my rescuer came and put a kennel down with tuna in it. I ran directly into cause I knew this could only be a good thing!

Levi was one of the two boys (Levi and Jasper) that Jose had in the Stony Plain Rescue Park (her first litter).

Jasper

Why is this picture being shown?! I just got neutered....so embarassing!

When I was brought in I had very bad worms and I had fallen off a fence and put a hole in the side of me. I was brought in to see the vet and they made me all better. I quickly gained weight once those nasty worms were not stealing all my food. I finally had the energy to play fetch with my mice... my favorite game.

I am extremely gentle and sensitive - you can only pet me lightly but I love the attention. But I surely do not let my big brother Levi beat up on me!

Sebastian Chipper

Sebastian was found May 2003  in the grass outside an apartment building at 4-5 weeks old - crying his head off. He came from Lloydminister to Saskatoon and stayed for with us for a week. His perfect combination of spunk and affection caused us to bond instantly...but unfortunately he had to go back to Lloydminister as I had no where to keep him.

Daisy (see below) was also taken in while Sebastian was in care. Daisy's pregnancy and the presence of little Sebastian really brought out her mothering instinct. You would see Daisy, heavily pregnat, trying to carry 8-9 week old Chipper around the house thinking it was her kitten. Chipper wanted none of this as he thought he was a big boy! Daisy and Chipper were the best friends and when Daisy's kittens were born Chipper was a full participant in cleaning the babies and making sure they were warm and safe.

In August 2003, I was told he was going to be sent to a no-kill shelter as the girl who had him could not keep him anymore due to unfortunate circumstances. Thinking of the possibility of him ending up with no home or in the wrong home broke my heart but I still had no place to keep him. Just before this, my parents told me my 15-year-old cat had died. So I asked my parents if they could take him for a while and they agreed. At the time, my parents had 2 old dogs and a cat. Sebastian became best friends with the 8-year-old cocker spaniel. In November 2003, he came back to live with me as I had finally had a place to keep him and we became best friends again.

In January 2005, I moved to Calgary and he had to stay with my parents again until I got a place where I could keep him. During that spring my parents were also in the process of moving from Moose Jaw to Regina and then to Kelowna. While in Kelowna and about a week before I was to get him back, my parents' building had a fire but thankfully Sebastian was not hurt. I got him back in September 2005.

So by the age of 2, he had live in 7 places, 6 cities, and 3 provinces. He's more travelled then I am!

But its all been worth it because he is the sweetest cat in the world and he is such a part of my life I cant imagine my life without him. And he still has his old spunk...this morning he laid the smack down on some pigeons that have been hanging out on our balcony.

Toby

I know I am a special cat because I have remained in permanent care due to my ongoing medical care. I make my Mommy work very hard at keeping the water bowl full and the litter boxes clean because I drink seven glasses of nice cool water a day and if there is no water in the waterbowl I make sure she knows.

Toby was one of many cats along with three dogs that were locked inside a decrepit in Lloydminster, Alberta. The rest of the animals were turned over to the local SPCA and some had to be put done due to severe injuries and infection.

Although Toby has been through so much in his life he is the most unique cat a person could ask for. If Toby could talk I am sure he would have many stories to tell.

Toby was brought in only walking on three legs, anaemic, and severely underweight. With lots of water, food, love, and time Toby got over the majority of his problems.

After countless vet visits there is still not a diagnosis as to why he drinks seven cups of water a day and needs to use the washroom so much. Every vet says he has one month to live, but after five years he is as strong as ever - stronger than when he came in! He has had countless tests done on him and although his kidneys do not function correctly they are not failing.

He has a scar that wraps around his neck and the vets believe that someone tried to strangle him at one point because the blood vessels in his neck are damaged.

Toby is in permanent care and enjoys going for car drives (in my lap) and going for walks in the park with no leash!

Leonardo

King of the household speaking! I am the boss and everyone needs to know that. By the way I am from Halifax and I may very well have travelled more than you!

I am seven years old now but when I was about ten months old something awful happened to me - I got hit by a car on December 25 2001. But you can not blame me - my previous owner dumped me outside into a world I knew nothing about.

I was brought in and I had significant surgery. I had to have a pin in my leg for many months and although I did not really like it, it healed my shattered leg into a brand new leg. My Mommy was so worried about my jumping activities that she collapsed all her furniture to the floor! What fun was that?! Anyways, I have to admit that I did play too hard and the pin slipped down and ripped through cartilage in my knee. I became very mean to my Mommy and Mickey (my cat brother) but following my second surgery I calmed right down again.

If you see me today, you would never know that my hind leg was once smashed into seven pieces.

Mickey Mousie (aka Goliath)

My name is Mickey but sometimes my Mommy calls me Goliath because apparently I am a big kitty but I have the heart of a Mouse. I have a tendency to eat way too much and I was once 18 pounds. I am now a lean 15 pounds!

I am also from Halifax and I have travelled all over Canada like Leo!

I am quite forgetful and I cannot remember my birthday. I am anywhere from 8-12 years old and I am starting to get creaky joints. But I am on a special glucosamine supplement that makes me feel younger enough to run up and down the stairs all day.

I was so scared of people that it took four months of coaxing with lots of yummy food to finally convince me to come indoors. My Mommy would hike outdoors in the rain to give me my food but I still would come nowhere close to her. When I finally decided to come in, I would make her sit deathly still while I was inside - if she even moved a finger I would get very very scared and run.

Anyway, one day I finally gave in. She was so nice to me I decided to go up and throw myself all over her. But she did not know a lot about cats back then and she was really scared of me because I have these large double paws! To this day, I can not get out of her lap and I have totally gotten over my shyness. I do not care who pets me as long as I get petted!

I had one bad habit though before becoming an indoor cat - I refused to use the litter box. I would cry and cry and cry until she opened the door. Normally, I would just go out and use the washroom and come right back in. But one day I reverted back to my old habit of climbing into car engines. I ended up getting dragged by a car. I got over that but I refused to ever go out after that and I thought the litter box was a great invention! I now spread the message that being an indoor cat is the greatest life ever!

I get regular haircuts because I shed so much that you could knit sweaters out my fur. I actually quite enjoy the shorter hair and you will see me cleaning myself a lot more...that long hair is just too tedious!
